"There's rosemary, that's for remembrance.
Pray you, love, remember.
And there is pansies, that's for thoughts,
There's fennel for you, and columbines.
There's rue for you, and here's some for me;
we may call it herb of grace o' Sundays.
O, you must wear your rue with a difference. There's a daisy....
I would give you some violets,
but they withered all when my father died."
Ophelia, Hamlet Act IV Scene v William Shakespeare
GOOD IN THE BEGINNING - Where it starts:
At La Terra Pura we make beautiful coffins. We use a recycled cardboard structure, covered and fully lined, variously with silk, wool, cotton, hessian, jute and hemp. In other words, natural materials from sustainable sources, chosen with care, and with respect also for the people who produce them.
We love our work, and hope to offer it to as many people as possible. This is such an original and fresh approach, (if you don't count the Egyptians) there seems to be a lot of interest. We know we have a lot to learn, but La Terra Pura seems to have a life of its' own. In the end 'the show must go on', and we will make sure it does. We want people to say 'I want my coffin to come from La Terra Pura' because it will have become synonymous with beauty , comfort, and a particular quality..
GOOD IN THE MIDDLE - The way we work:
We like to think that each piece is made with the same care and attention we would give our own mothers, or other loved one. Made by real people, for real individuals, every coffin is unique. We will listen carefully and sensitively to your needs. Whether you are heading for a woodland glade, an open air pyre, or Westminster Abbey, we will help you choose exactly the colours and fabrics you wish, We believe in treading lightly on this planet, and in honouring death as a sacred part of our journey.
GOOD AT THE END - The dedication
There are some wonderful green alternatives on the market, but a coffin from Terra Pura can be as individual as your dress sense - right for the occasion, and right for you. If you are witnessing the ceremony, our experience is that a coffin from La Terra Pura makes it altogether softer and more hopeful.
